80g donation limit
Section 80g of the Income Tax Act in India encourages charitable donations by allowing taxpayers to claim deductions to eligible agencies. However there is a ban on the amount that can be claimed. For most donations the cut contribution is 50% of the amount, subject to the most hat of 10% of the taxpayer's gross income. Some companies, like the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, offer a 100% deduction without any restriction. It is necessary for donors to ensure that their recipient agencies are registered below Section 80g to take advantage of these benefits.
